PRESS RELEASE: CMP.LY Rebrands As CommandPost

Shifts Corporate Focus from Disclosure to Social Monitoring, Measurement & Insights

New York, NY – June 4, 2014 – CMP.LY, the leading provider of disclosure solutions for social media, announced today that it is formally rebranding as CommandPost and will operate as such moving forward.

CommandPost – CMP.LY’s patented Monitoring, Measurement and Insights (MMI) tool – is a comprehensive platform that helps brands and agencies evaluate social performance, optimize content and engagement strategies, understand their audiences and build meaningful assets out of their social initiatives. CommandPost delivers insights for companies of all sizes – including Fortune 100 companies – as well as top advertising, social, digital and PR agencies. Its newest branded channel offering is currently being used by leading global brands across a range of industries, including fast food, financial services and automotive categories.

“Transparency, disclosure and compliance will always be core components of everything that we do, but the decision to rebrand as CommandPost is in line with the growth and forward momentum of our company, and the evolution we’re seeing in social media marketing overall,” said Tom Chernaik, CEO.

“Counting likes, followers and other social activities are no longer strong enough metrics to prove success, especially if those actions fail to increase audience engagement. Most brands have placed a lot of effort on gaining friends and followers, but continue to have little insight (beyond raw metrics) into who is actually engaging within their communities or how to activate those audiences in a meaningful way. CommandPost helps define who those audience members are – based on their specific engagement with the brand – across multiple platforms so that companies can accurately measure social success and redefine their audience development and content strategies to plan for the long term,” said Chernaik.

CMP.LY was initially founded in 2009 as a system of documented disclosures helping leading brands, agencies, bloggers and other social media users comply with the FTC’s guidelines for testimonials and endorsements in social media. Due to increased social media regulations, CMP.LY expanded its disclosure capabilities to address SEC, FINRA, FDA and other compliance needs, and introduced plain-language URLs (such as ter.ms, rul.es and my-disclosur.es). The company also developed solutions around social media contests and promotions to address increased risk and meet a growing need for transparency in this area.

In 2012, CMP.LY moved beyond compliance capabilities and formally launched the CommandPost platform in early 2013, providing monitoring and measurement for third-party social media initiatives. With today’s announcement, the CommandPost platform now includes comprehensive disclosure, management and measurement of both owned and earned social media channels.
